Family Portraits/Seattle Photographer/Seward Park
Meet the Stanley’s. I first meet the girls while covering Honored Elder’s Day at the Seattle Girls School last spring. It was one of those moments when everything just clicked. You know how that feels?-everything just lined up right so to speak. Then this past fall we got together for a family session at Seward Park in south Seattle. The timing couldn’t have been better. It was warm (not like today), slightly over caste creating a soft gentle light and just the right amount of fall color.

In October little Raymond (v2 as I like to call him) turned 2. A quick plane ride to Boise is all took to get home-made cake, icecream, baby bowling, visiting and a stop at the zoo.
Grandma made this cake. I was a truck made of chocolate cake with butter cream frosting and candy accents. Nothing says birthday like homemade cake and ice-cream.
Ah, baby bowling. How can you not love it. It’s a right of passage isn’t it. Even when Raymond get’s bossy and tells me to stop taking his picture and get in the darn pool.
After all the festivities we went to the Boise Zoo. First stop the carousel. Madison was a seasoned pro and totally knew what to do. Raymond took a while to figure it all out but I’m guessing it won’t be his last carousel ride.
After the carousel ride he’s off and running. Herding the geese and ducks with Madison in tow. Towering over everyone on a bolder and then trying to find the owner of a lost feather.
One of my favorite things about the Boise zoo is the ground squirrels exhibit. It’s awesome. People get to walk in these tunnels the pop their heads up like the squirrels. At which point you are on eye level with the busy busy squirrels.

O.k.-at the risk of sounding like a bad adult, this was totally worth the price of admission. Madison ran up to check out the big brass sculpture of an elephant. Little did she know that it had a motion sensor and sprayed water when triggered. It was frigging awesome!
And these are the money shot. Exactly what we came for. Who knew he’d be such a little flirt. Look out ladies
Suzanne & David/An Omaha Wedding/Seattle Photographer
On a lovely fall day in Omaha Nebraska, during an “off” day for the huskers of course, Suzanne and David married. They’ve been dating on and off for the past 10 years I’m told. Why the wait? I don’t know. They seem like a perfect match too me. I’ve known Suzanne for many many years as she is technically my cousin’s sister but not my cousin. But for the record that doesn’t stop me from claiming her. It was the first time I meet David, but he’s so easy to be around I felt like I had known him for years by the time I left.
The wedding it’s self was traditional and too the point. For them it was about their relationship with God and each other. I don’t mean this in a bad way at all. It was so very refreshing to have a couple commit to each other and not to the wedding. They never lost sight of that.
After we left the church and before going to the reception we made a stop at a local park at the perfect time of day. I couldn’t have ask for better light.
The ballroom was glowing with candles and the flowers just popped off the white linens.
Did these guys dance! Man it was fun. I even worked my way onto the dance floor for a couple…..with my camera of course.
I hope to have the honor of photographing their babies in the future….no pressure or anything. (Suzanne your Mom paid me $10 to say that).

Lily, Lily, Lily!-how you nail it each and every year. I’ve been photographing Lily since she was 6 months old and every year it gets better and better. Between her sassyness and her Mom’s amazing styling it’s like shooting fish in a barrel I tell ya.
Love, love, love this photo! I mean come on!, so couldn’t have gotten that cat to cooperate if we tried.

Yes we’re on the railroad tracks. And YES I looked both ways. No we weren’t in danger. Technically we weren’t ON the tracks but between them, so even if a train came we would have been safe…..geez Mom.
Audrey & Nick/ A Maui Wedding/Seattle Photographer

Audrey and I first meet about 3 years ago when she responded to a bogus job posting (long story, don’t get me started). In spite of the fact that the posting was totally made up we got together for coffee one afternoon and went on to work together for a good year and a half or so. So when, over coffee, she told me that they were moving and getting married …. on MAUI I pretty much jumped at the mere thought of it. Now I’d like to point out that she’s shot for a number of other photographers, so she had other options but she picked ME! And I felt so honored on many levels.
The ceremony was lovely and fun. It’s not often I’m this lucky enough to get this kind of available light in a church. So many sweet moments it was hard to pick.
Classic!-this is constantly one of my favorite moments.
Church formals-ya got to have them. But you can have fun with them.
The ceremony was held at St Therease Church in Kihei, from there we headed to Olowalu Plantation about half way between Kihei and Lahina for some photos and boy was I in heaven….I think Audrey might have picked this place just for me.
Come on, a rainbow-when does that ever happen!

By the time we arrived at the reception held at the Pioneer In in Lahaina the evening light was gorgeous!
After a blessing from Audrey’s Dad the buffet was opened.
I know, I know, it’s probably overkill but what can I say-we’re from Seattle we don’t get these kind of sunsets very often.
A number of folks gave heartfelt toast, if really was a sweet moment in time.
Photo booth fun! Now THIS is how to have a photo booth. Simple backdrop and fun props. Oh, Those crazy kids.
I must confess, Father/Daughter dances always get me.
Nick’s grandparents were also celebrating their SIXTIETH wedding anniversary. That’s not something you get to share in everyday.
One of the things Audrey and I always talked a lot about is how wedding DJ’s seem to only have 1 play list: At last, We are family, Brick house….just to name a few. So with that in mind they spent a lot of time looking for and interviewing DJ’s. Their guy kicked ass! At one point I put my camera down and started dancing.

Holly & Will’s wedding-July 16th.
On a soggy morning in July I caught the ferry from Seattle to Bainbridge Island. It was pretty, quiet and fun to watch the tourists.
I arrived a few minutes early so I was able to dive right in with the detail shots. Will, the groom created the boutonniers our of pounded/shaped copper. The rings were custom done by local jewelers
Will’s just a fun guy in general. He was in prime form the morning of and I wouldn’t have had it any other way.
Holly found her gown on Craigslist if you can believe it. It was fantastic! The color, the detail-loved it.
Hanging out with the girls while the got ready was so much fun. The house was a disaster but the photography was awesome. The hair piece was created by a friend of the brides.

What’s not to be happy about?!…
This kind of sums up the guys-there was a whole lot of grab ass going on. Never a dull moment that’s for sure.
The girls were proper and demure as they should be. Well for the moment at least.
Noah, Noah, Noah-not to be left out. Who would leave him out, he’s going to bring them down the isle with Ukulele music.
We were all set up to do family portraits in the forest when first Holly spied her Grandpa and then Will his Grandma. These are the moments we all live for. Or should.

Both Holly and Will are creative. Holly spent months putting the final touches together. They all came together as planned!

Holly doesn’t sew, but that didn’t stop her from creating a lovely bunting to hang at the ceremony site. The yellows and oranges really popped against the blues in the sky.
Will is an artist by trade and a part time teacher-he sandblasted each of these bottles with the letter B for their last name. They were filled with water and corked, ready to be opened and used or taken home as a keepsake. Holly created the “flowers” out of sticks tissue paper glued on in simple jars with pebbles.
Thankfully instead of the usual salmon they opted for wood fired Pizza from Rolling Fire. Delicious! And how cute is a heart shaped pizza, I mean come on!
Fun, unique, simple and creative. The cake table set up worked so well in this space I just loved it. Simple flowers in common jars placed in, on, and around stakes of books.
First dances always get me. Especially when there is amazing back lighting!
They had a do-it-yourself photo-booth with super fun props. I just had to steal a few, couldn’t help myself.
End-of-the-day sun is always the best! I can’t say that enough.
Instead of the traditional guest book they opted to have guest write them a note on an old fashioned typewriter.
The next morning I woke up early, stepped outside of my cabin with a fresh cup of coffee and watched the birds on the water. What a lovely way to start the day.
Will & Holly’s Kiss a Carnie Engagement Session/Seattle Photographer
I recently had a fantastic engagement session and I just got to share it! OMG did we have fun. and no booze were involved. Imagine that.
In less than 2 weeks Will and Holly will be tying the knot. No more kissing carnies for these two…that is unless they have a career change. This concept had been bouncing around in my little pea-brain for a while. They were the PERFECT couple, no wait, they are the PERFECT couple.
What can I say, a good time was had by all. Even the carnies got into it. They were so great. Let us stay longer, let us in/on longer. They were SO great to us-it was a real treat.

I just love it when my couples are game to try something different and not right out of the wedding play book.
I can’t say enough about cheese cake……
Shawn and Mark were married on a sunny beach in Mexico but they reread their vows to each other..such a sweet moment.
I LOVE this shot of Shawn-it sums up her feelings for the day.

I must confess-Shawn and Mark are my neighbors and we don’t know each other all that well-YET. I like to think of this as a fantastic ice breaker.
